Officer Amira Ehlers is with the Waterloo Police Department. Amira has been a Certified Peace Officer in the State of Iowa since 2019. She is highly trained in her field and experienced with working together for the common goal of caring for the K9s. Amira has helped raise several dollars to give back not only to help support the Waterloo K9 Unit but also back to many nonprofits, especially to those with a particular interest in fighting for causes she is passionate about.

Amira is Married to Sergeant J. Ehlers, a K9 Handler to the one and only K9 Axe. Amira runs K9 Axe’s Instagram. You can follow Amira and Axe on Instagram @k9_axe . It is Amira’s insight as an Officer and the wife of a K9 Handler, that gives her the perspective to identify the needs that we seek to meet.
