MIKE SANTANA

DIRECTOR | DEPUTY | K9 BREK

Deputy Mike Santana, a law enforcement officer of ten years, has served with Columbia County Sheriff’s Office since 2015. He was assigned to be a K9 Handler, serves as a K-9 Team Trainer, and is a member of the Special Response Team, which specializes in man-hunt operations and serving high-risk warrants. Santana is a certified NAEMT TECC Provider and is trained to perform critical lifesaving medical aid when responding to an active shooter or other hostile events.

Santana served in the United States Army from 2003 – to 2010. After his military service, he returned home and attended the Police Academy in 2012.

As a K-9 handler, Deputy Santana and his partner, K9 Brek, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois, specialize in narcotics detection, tracking, and suspect apprehension.The day a K9 officer meets his partner is a day a lifelong bond is formed. This can be said about Deputy Santana and K9 Brek.
